PC graduated with a Bachelor of Law with Honours (LLB) from University of Warwick in 1981. A member of Lincoln’s Inn, London, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1982. Upon his return to Malaysia and after serving his pupillage, he was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1983. He began his legal career in the firm of Messrs Choong & Co. and was its senior partner when he left in 2001 to found his present firm of Messrs PC Choong & Co. with the aim of providing personalised and specialised boutique legal services for his myriad of clientele.

Throughout his career, he has always been motivated and guided by his own philosophy in practice, which is “Know Your Client; Understand Their Problem; Find A Solution”. With more than 40 years of experience in the legal arena, he has an excellent reputation across a broad selection of practice areas. As one of those now increasingly rare legal practitioners who is dually adept in both contentious and non-contentious areas of practice, PC is able to advise and strategise for clients on matters relating to general civil litigation, corporate & commercial matters as well as conveyancing & banking matters. His in-depth and substantive legal know-how He is highly sought after by clients and he regularly receives many referrals for real estate, banking and corporate matters, especially in the areas encompassing joint ventures, Mergers & Acquisitions and insolvency and corporate restructuring schemes. His vast experience coupled with the flexibility and willingness to think outside the box has earned him a firm and enduring business and personal relationships with his clientele.

  • the Kuala Lumpur High Court case of Elizabeth Magdeline Buxton vs Packaging Specialists Sdn Bhd (1987) 1 MLJ 342;
  • the Court of Appeal case of Tsoi Ping Kwan vs Medan Juta Sdn Bhd & ors (1996) 4 CLJ 53 (where he was co-Counsel for Ayer Hitam Tin Dredging Bhd which was ordered to be made a party to proceedings during the course of an Appeal to the Court of Appeal);
  • the Kuala Lumpur High Court case of D& C Nomura Merchant Bankers Ltd vs Futura Engineering Sdn Bhd (1990) 1 CLJ 757;
  • the Kuala Lumpur High Court case of Re: Haroun Al-Rashid bin Mohd Yusof, ex-parte Daya Leasing Sdn Bhd (1996) 5 MLJ 317 and (1996) 2 CLJ 516;
  • the Shah Alam High Court case of Rinol Malaysia Sdn Bhd vs MBT (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (2002) 6 CLJ 63 (handled prior to leaving the firm of M/s Choong & Co.);
  • the Johor Bahru High Court case of Pet Far Eastern (M) Sdn Bhd vs Tay Young Huat reported by the Current Law Journal in (1999) 2 CLJ 886 (where he was lead Counsel).
